Excited to have attended the African Voices in Scotland event hosted by Josephine Adekola with University of Glasgow at The Scottish Parliament.
The Scottish Parliament is the legislative body for Scotland, hence, the event took place within the governmental context and involved discussions, speeches, and a film screening relating to its purpose.

It was an incredible opportunity to connect with Members of the Scottish Parliament, African and Caribbean communities, and community leaders. The event highlighted key barriers on representation and participation of Black people, including mistrust in the government and limited support for grassroots community groups, and it aimed to amplify the voices, perspectives, and experiences of Black people living in Scotland.

Black Professionals Scotland engaged and discussed concerns based on our existing data and experiences from our members.

This was truly a motivation to continue to work towards meaningful impact to the Black population in Scotland.
